Subject: ID Vault Failed to authenticate with server
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Shared Login
Technical Area: Error Message
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Not reproducible

Dears,
We use successfully for more than a year ID-Vault - 8.5.3 Domino Server.

We have a Citrix environment where we now switch from Notes 7 and 8.5.3 Basic.
Most of the locally installed Lotus Notes are 8.5.3 standard client.

If a user from Notes8.5.3 standard (local installation) want to login at the new Citrix host, the ID often isn't automaticly downloaded from the Vault.
In the client log, I found the following error message like:
Failed to authenticate with server Ser01/O'. This server does not have the vault. A referral was returned
Server 'SER01 / O' reported the following issues that are responsible for the failure of the authentication element of the document not found

The German Message is:
Authentifizierung bei Server Ser02/O fehlgeschlagen: Die Vault befindet sich nicht auf diesem Server. Eine Weitergabe wurde zurückgegeben.
Server 'Ser01/O' meldete folgende Probleme, die für das Fehlschlagen der Authentifizierung verantwortlich sind: Element des Dokuments nicht gefunden

SER02 the user mail server
SER01 the hub server where the ID Vault database is located.
The users are valid in the Vault, (not inactive)

Well I found a solution:
This error message is merely informational. The server in question does not contain a replica of the ID Vault and as a result, a referral is returned to the requesting server with details about which server actually does contain a replica of the ID Vault. Can be prevented by having replica of the ID vault on the server in question.

I can't reproduce this issue, it happens not always.
I don't like to replicate the ID-Vault to all mailservers, and sometimes it works alright...

By the way, on the local Notes installation on Windows 7, we have activated NSL.

Any ideas?

thanks in advice
Daniel
